Videoconferencing in Health Related Situations

Project CHILD has supported a computer videoconfernce server since 1995. It has been the host for videoconferences (and text-based irc conferences) for health professionals who to meet and discuss health related issues. The comments from the post-conference surveys have been overwhelmingly positive.

A proposal has been developed and submitted to provide videoconference capabilities from Ronald McDonald House to local Jacksonville health professionals. This will allow parents staying with children at Ronald McDonald House to get specific information from health professionals in an interactive setting. This proposal was written by Dr. Pamela Chally and Dr. Doreen Radjenovic from the College of Health and Dr. Layne Wallace from the Department of CIS.

The research that started with Project CHILD included a videoconference component. That component has been maintained and is still being used for small medical conferences.
